Things to Know when picking a Wedding Photographer:

Here is a list I made to help when picking a wedding photographer!

You will only get to make this important decision once, when the wedding is over there are only a few things you will have left (the ring, the dress, the wife/husband and the photography) The photography is there to remind you of all of your hard work, & the intricate details you planned. The day will go by so fast...you will rely on the pictures to see what you missed!

Top 10 things to consider when hiring a wedding photographer.

1.Delivery - How long does it take to get your proofs back, thank you cards, your finished album, your bridal portrait, etc.?

2. Make sure this person is someone you would like at your wedding. You may spend more time with them than family and friends on your wedding day. Is the "chemestry" there? This person will need to "get" you...in order to create the mood and look you are wanting for your images.

3. If you have a chance look at a full wedding. Don’t get fooled into looking just at one gallery of favorites. Make sure they are capable of creating what you expect.

4. Make sure you like there style. Make sure you trust them enough to create something special for you.

5. Ask your photographer if they have a backup plan. How will your images be stored, and for how long? If something happens to their computer...will they images be stored in another safe location?

6.What about deposits and payments? Will you get your deposit back if the wedding is canceled, or at least get a credit?

7. Ask about backup equipment. If you get a blank stare you know they are not prepared to shoot your wedding. They should have a at least 2 bodies for each photographer and multiple lenses and flashes. This sounds trivial but digital cameras do fail. There are many photographers who do not have enough gear to shoot at weddings, so make sure to ask.

8. If they get sick what happens. Do they have a back up photographer?

9. Pricing- make sure you understand what you are getting up front and their pricing packages are up front and understandable. Many photographers will charge a separate fee for the cd of all images and printing rights. And then at times will lock the images to a certain size for printing.

10. Do a search on the internet to find out all you can about your photographers. Ask around... word of mouth is the best advertisement....Does your photographer have a good reputation ?
